Organic, Cruelty-Free & Vegan certified Makeup
Sublim’Soft is a base primer and skin perfecter with a matt finish. For use as a makeup primer, it mattifies the complexion for long-lasting makeup application, whilst it can also be used alone to perfect your complexion. This amazing product minimises pores, mattifies oily areas without drying skin and imparts a velvety softness to skin, thanks to its silica-rich bamboo hydrolate, macerate and bamboo powder.
Packaged in a glass bottle with bamboo lid and featuring an easy-to-use pump dispenser, the product is attractively presented in a bamboo pouch with drawstring, making Zao makeup both a beautiful gift and an item to treasure.
The Sublim’Soft can be used alone or under the foundation to facilitate easy application and achieve longer-lasting makeup, but it’s starring quality is that you can use it to replace mattifying powder. Simply apply before foundation to achieve a naturally matt look without the need for finishing powder. Your skin looks flawless and matt, yet completely natural. You can also use over foundation: simply pump some product into your hands and apply to key shine-prone areas of your face, blending in with fingertips. This product works particularly well for those with oily t-zones to help keep shine at bay, and also for those wanting to conceal open pores or fine facial hairs that are accentuated by finishing powders. It is also ideal for mature customers who feel that finishing powders are ageing, and for those with dry skin for whom finishing powders can look ‘cakey’.
This product, as with all ZAO products, is free from parabens (synthetic preservatives), using instead micronised silver as an effective and non-toxic preservative. ZAO does not use nanoparticles in their products, with the micronised silver being larger than nanoparticle size, making ZAO products safe and free from toxic preservatives.
A formula 100% of natural origin, certified organic and Vegan.
These Glass Bottles are refillable so you keep the Bottle & Pump.

Organic bamboo leaves hydrosol: Derived from the distillation of bamboo leaves, it mattifies oily skin. Moisturising and soothing, it is also useful for dry and sensitive skin types. Thanks to its high content of silica, it leaves a soft and velvety touch to the skin.
Bamboo stem powder: A white substance extracted from the nodes of the bamboo. Thanks to its high content of silica, it remineralises, moisturises and regenerates your skin while reducing the shine of oily areas.
Organic bamboo rhizome macerate: As bamboo powder or bamboo leaves hydrosol, this material is extremely rich in organic silica, which is needed by skin to maintain elasticity and youthful appearance.
Olive squalane: Extracted from olive oil, plant Squalane is a derivative of squalene which is a natural component of human sebum. About Zao & Responsibly Sourced Palm-Oil:
Intensive cultivation of palm oil, mainly in Indonesia, leads to massive primary forest destruction in favour of palm plantations. Palm oil and ingredient complexes derived from palm oil are widely used in cosmetic products.
Cosmetic industry uses many palm oil derivatives, more difficult to identify, because the word PALM does not appear in the ingredients list.
Zao products may contain palm oil derivatives but it is important to understand that it is difficult for us to exclude them as raw material suppliers do not offer other alternatives. We are forced to find ourselves in this situation.
Nevertheless, we are trying to do our best by selecting only RSPO certified palm oil derivatives.
What is RSPO certified palm oil?
RSPO: Round table for Sustainable Palm Oil
RSPO is an association founded in 2004. It aims to promote the growth and use of palm oil that meets specific sustainability criteria at all levels: producers, traders, distributors, etc.
RSPO standard’s set of criteria are applied to all the steps of transformation of palm oil up to its selling. Its aim is to guarantee the traceability of sustainable palm oil, up to the final product.
RSPO certified palm oil shows companies commitment and also certifies sustainability.
You can find more information about RSPO certified palm oil here https://www.rspo.org RSPO certified palm oil is the best alternative we have at the moment. However, we do not give up and are trying to find new raw materials.
Here is a list of raw materials derived from RSPO palm oil present in ZAO products:
– SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE
– ZINC STEARATE
– SUCROSE PALMITATE
– PROPYLENE GLYCOL
– GLYCERYL CAPRILAT
Our suppliers’ certificates guarantee that their raw materials are derived from RSPO certified palm oil
For other raw materials frequently used as palm oil derivatives, we have managed to find an alternative:
– CETEARYL ALCOHOL-coconut oil derivative
– STEARATE GLYCEROL-coconut oil derivative
– ISOSTEARIC ACID-rapeseed oil derivative
Zao Make-Up is a make-up brand owned by Cosm’Etika France. It was co-founded in 2012 by four friends, David Reccole, Philippe Donnat, Yvan Rouvier and Salima Macozzi Reccole. Lovers of nature and aware of the impact of our consumption on the environment, the 4 friends chose to develop a brand of organic makeup in accordance with their deep values. They gave birth to Zao Make-Up, the first rechargeable make-up brand, 100% natural and certified organic by Ecocert.
Convinced that a line of certified organic makeup must use a natural packaging, the elegance and modernity of bamboo assert themselves as obvious for David, Philippe, Yvan and Salima. All trees are carbon storers but bamboo’s exceptional growth rate makes it a carbon capture champion during its life-cycle. It allows Zao products to display a reduced carbon footprint.
Bamboo is also incorporated into formulas in the form of sap powder, leaf hydrosol or bamboo rhizome macerate. This plant is rich in organic silica, an element naturally present in our body and that which participates in the process of producing collagen, which preserves the elasticity of tissues.
Bamboo is the distinction and identity of Zao Make-Up.
“Oriental philosophies and ways of thinking have touched me, especially Buddhism. Bamboo has a very important role in Asia and in Buddhism in particular. The name of the mark was to testify to this link. Buddhism has many expressions and branches. Among them, two are well known and are based on the observation of nature. This is ZEN and TAO. As an invitation to meditation, peace of mind and the search for harmony and authenticity following the example of nature, ZAO is a contraction of these two names.” David Reccole One of the founders of Zao.
