How to use
This clay is ideal for those who love a great summer look! It gives the face a beautiful glow, a silky look that lasts all day. To structure and define the shape of your face, use a blush brush and apply mineral cooked powder on the contours of your face: from the top of the forehead along the hairline, down and along the lower line of your cheekbones, and finishing along the underside of the jaws. The idea is to draw a “3” on each side of your face. Finalise the look by applying the powder on the nose for a long nose, or on the sides of the nose for a wide nose. With this radiant, structured powder look, you can enjoy a sunshine feeling all year round. Adjust the tone to match the season. Your face will get a summery glow and look sculpted within seconds.
ZAO Beauty tip: Mineral Cooked Powder is designed to shape your face rather than for complete coverage which would harden features.
Lighter than the other powders in the range, the 346 can be used in different ways, depending on skin type:
- For combination/oily skin, it can be used as a classic ‘bronzing powder’, sculpting, structuring and warming the face.
- For a tired complexion, Mineral Cooked Powder 346 can replace foundation, warming and mattifying the complexion instantly. .
- For lighter skin tones, Mineral Cooked Powder 346 is best used as a blush on cheekbones to brighten complexion.
- All skin types can use Mineral Cooked Powder 346 for ‘retouching’ throughout the day.
The ‘Natural Glow’ Terracotta Matt Bronzing Powder 347 brightens and revives complexions for an instant and natural summer glow. The true matt finish makes this product suitable for daytime use, and for those who dislike any shimmer to their complexion. Wear to lift and warm your complexion for a totally natural-looking warm sun-kissed glow. This powder suits all skin tones, and its silky texture feels amazingly nourishing to skin.
Organic corn starch – The organic corn starch is a vegetable support allowing a better adhesion of the powder on the skin, and thus a better holding of the make-up. It facilitates the dispersion of pigments and in this way helps the consistency of the complexion on the skin.
Vegetal Squalene – Extracted from olive oil, vegetable Squalene is a derivative of squalene, which is a natural component of human sebum. Its excellent affinity with the skin, by its similarity with natural cutaneous lipids, and its emollient properties make it an ideal active ingredient. It strengthens the cutaneous hydrolipidic barrier, softens the skin and protects it from dehydration.
Organic castor oil – This oil is interesting because it is emollient which allows to soften the skin. It is also moisturising which increases the water content of the skin and keeps it soft and smooth.
Bamboo powder – It is a white substance extracted from the joints of bamboo. Thanks to its high silica content, it remineralises, hydrates and participates in the regeneration of your skin while reducing the shine of combination and oily skin.

About Zao & Responsibly Sourced Palm-Oil:
Intensive cultivation of palm oil, mainly in Indonesia, leads to massive primary forest destruction in favour of palm plantations. Palm oil and ingredient complexes derived from palm oil are widely used in cosmetic products.
Cosmetic industry uses many palm oil derivatives, more difficult to identify, because the word PALM does not appear in the ingredients list.
Zao products may contain palm oil derivatives but it is important to understand that it is difficult for us to exclude them as raw material suppliers do not offer other alternatives. We are forced to find ourselves in this situation.
Nevertheless, we are trying to do our best by selecting only RSPO certified palm oil derivatives.
What is RSPO certified palm oil?
RSPO: Round table for Sustainable Palm Oil
RSPO is an association founded in 2004. It aims to promote the growth and use of palm oil that meets specific sustainability criteria at all levels: producers, traders, distributors, etc.
RSPO standard’s set of criteria are applied to all the steps of transformation of palm oil up to its selling. Its aim is to guarantee the traceability of sustainable palm oil, up to the final product.
RSPO certified palm oil shows companies commitment and also certifies sustainability.
You can find more information about RSPO certified palm oil here https://www.rspo.org RSPO certified palm oil is the best alternative we have at the moment. However, we do not give up and are trying to find new raw materials.
Here is a list of raw materials derived from RSPO palm oil present in ZAO products:
– SODIUM STEAROYL LACTYLATE
– ZINC STEARATE
– SUCROSE PALMITATE
– PROPYLENE GLYCOL
– GLYCERYL CAPRILAT
Our suppliers’ certificates guarantee that their raw materials are derived from RSPO certified palm oil
For other raw materials frequently used as palm oil derivatives, we have managed to find an alternative:
– CETEARYL ALCOHOL-coconut oil derivative
– STEARATE GLYCEROL-coconut oil derivative
– ISOSTEARIC ACID-rapeseed oil derivative
Zao Make-Up is a make-up brand owned by Cosm’Etika France. It was co-founded in 2012 by four friends, David Reccole, Philippe Donnat, Yvan Rouvier and Salima Macozzi Reccole. Lovers of nature and aware of the impact of our consumption on the environment, the 4 friends chose to develop a brand of organic makeup in accordance with their deep values. They gave birth to Zao Make-Up, the first rechargeable make-up brand, 100% natural and certified organic by Ecocert.
Convinced that a line of certified organic makeup must use a natural packaging, the elegance and modernity of bamboo assert themselves as obvious for David, Philippe, Yvan and Salima. All trees are carbon storers but bamboo’s exceptional growth rate makes it a carbon capture champion during its life-cycle. It allows Zao products to display a reduced carbon footprint.
Bamboo is also incorporated into formulas in the form of sap powder, leaf hydrosol or bamboo rhizome macerate. This plant is rich in organic silica, an element naturally present in our body and that which participates in the process of producing collagen, which preserves the elasticity of tissues.
Bamboo is the distinction and identity of Zao Make-Up.
“Oriental philosophies and ways of thinking have touched me, especially Buddhism. Bamboo has a very important role in Asia and in Buddhism in particular. The name of the mark was to testify to this link. Buddhism has many expressions and branches. Among them, two are well known and are based on the observation of nature. This is ZEN and TAO. As an invitation to meditation, peace of mind and the search for harmony and authenticity following the example of nature, ZAO is a contraction of these two names.” David Reccole One of the founders of Zao.
